This reminds me of a friend of mine. At his birthday dinner, we had to perform the heimlich maneuver on him because he had a one inch cube of steak lodged in his throat.
It's important to chew your food, and I'll tell you why.
Number 1 - so you don't choke
Number 2 - Because you do the majority of the work for your stomach, hence, have more energy. When you break it down with your chompers, then your can focus on taking the nutrients and send it through your body.
It does take a lot longer to eat. But it doesn't take as much energy.
