I was talking with my sister who has fresh tomatoes, zuchini and corn in her back yard and it reminded me of when I was in the Azores in 1999.
We were at this restaurant that had the best shrimp on the island. So we're sitting on the patio after we ordered, and an old Portuguese lady walked by with a plate full of tomatoes that she had just picked from her garden (Their home was across the restaurant's driveway). I thought nothing of it.
10 minutes later, those same tomatoes were were sliced and on a plate in front of me as an appetizer.
God bless freshness.
